FOREST SCHOOL

Every tuesday and thursday morning we forest school!

We are fortunate enough to have our very own seperate Forest School area where we follow the forest school learning ethos to teach our children in the wonderful, rural outdoors – whatever the weather.

During our Forest School sessions, our children sit around our fire circle whilst we toast marshmallows on an open fire, making s’mores which we enjoy with a hot chocolate. The children are encouraged to use their senses to recognise sights and sounds of nature before open-ended play.

Each session children are invited to take part in an adult-led activity – it could be making bird-feeders, bug hotels, minibeast hunting, den-building, natural art or mud painting.

We provide a small wildlife pond for children to observe living creatures, rope swings to enjoy, a tree to climb, mud kitchen to explore and resources to dig, hunt and discover.

Emphasising our ethos for child-led outdoor exploration the sessions allow our children to take part in sensory experiences and safe, hands-on learning.
